New System Still Not Right

New HVAC. Same comfort problem? Find out why.

You replaced the system expecting the problem to go away. The new one runs constantly, never quite cools the house, or leaves it as uncomfortable as before. The equipment is new, so the question is whether it is performing the way it should.

A SystemIQ Evaluation answers it with measurements: what the new system is actually delivering, and what is standing in its way.

New house, and it has never felt right? If you recently bought the home and nobody explained the system to you, start with what a new homeowner should know about the HVAC.

Why new equipment can still underperform

New equipment is only as good as the conditions it runs in. If the duct system restricts airflow, the new system cannot deliver its rated capacity. If the refrigerant charge is off, it cannot remove heat and moisture the way it should. If it was sized to the old unit rather than to the house, it can short cycle and leave the air damp, or run without ever catching up.

None of it shows on the equipment label. It shows up in the readings.

What the evaluation checks

Static pressure and total system airflow, the temperature change across the coil, and refrigerant charge in cooling season. Those numbers show whether the new system is doing what it was installed to do, and the Home Comfort Report puts them in writing with what to do about each finding.

If the problem is the house

Some comfort problems survive a new system because they were never about the system. Humidity the house will not shed, one floor that never keeps up, or other companies already out without an answer: call us at (423) 401-0999 so we can talk it through before anything is booked.

New construction under builder warranty

If the home is new construction and still under the builder's warranty, start with the builder. Our warranty support page explains how we work with builders and homeowners on those.

Common questions

Common questions

Should I call the company that installed it?
Yes, especially while the installation is under a labor warranty. A written set of measurements can make the conversation shorter, and the findings are yours to share.
Could the new system be the wrong size?
It could be. Sizing is a measurable question: a load calculation for the house compared with what was installed, and run time behavior compared with what the load predicts.
Is it normal for a new system to run constantly?
In the hottest part of summer, long run times are expected. A system that runs constantly in mild weather, or never reaches the setpoint, is worth measuring.
