AC Repair

AC repair in Chattanooga that starts with a measurement.

When your air conditioning quits or can't keep up, most companies swap a part and hope. We measure the system first — so the repair addresses the actual problem, not the most obvious symptom.

Why your AC isn't cooling

Warm air from the vents has a dozen possible causes, and they don't look alike on the inside. Low refrigerant charge, a restricted duct system, a failing capacitor, a dirty coil, an undersized return, a compressor on its way out — each one can produce the same complaint at the thermostat.

That's why a guess is expensive. Replace a part that wasn't the problem and the symptom comes back, usually on the hottest day of the year. We rule causes out with readings, not hunches, so you pay to fix the thing that's actually broken.

How we diagnose an AC problem

Every AC service call starts the same way: a manometer reads static pressure to see whether the duct system is choking the equipment, an ALNOR balometer confirms airflow at the registers, and manifold gauges check refrigerant charge against measured superheat and subcooling. Where it helps, an IR camera shows electrical hot spots and temperature differences a meter can't.

The numbers go on a written report. You see what we measured and why it points to the recommendation we're making.

Repairs we handle

Capacitors, contactors, and blower and condenser fan motors. Refrigerant leaks — found, repaired, and recharged by weight, with the amount logged, never topped off and forgotten. Drain line and condensate problems. Control and thermostat faults. Coil and airflow restrictions that quietly wreck efficiency long before the system fails outright.

If the honest answer is that the duct system or charge was never right to begin with, we'll tell you that too — and show you the readings behind it.

Repair or replace — your call, on the data

We don't lead with a sales pitch for a new system. A documented repair is often the right move on equipment with years left in it. When replacement genuinely makes more sense, a Manual J load calculation tells us what the house actually needs, so you're not handed a quote for an oversized box that short-cycles and never dehumidifies.

Either way, you get the measurements, the recommendation, and a written estimate before any work is approved.

Common questions

AC Repair questions, answered straight.

How much does AC repair cost?
It depends on what's actually wrong, which is why we measure before we quote. The diagnostic comes first — airflow, static pressure, refrigerant charge — and you get a written estimate before any repair starts. Nothing happens without your approval.
Do you charge for the diagnostic?
Yes. The $149 System Evaluation is a paid, instrument-based diagnostic, and it's how we keep the recommendation honest. You're paying for measurement and a written report, not a free guess aimed at selling you a new system.
My AC is low on refrigerant — can't you just top it off?
Low charge means a leak, and topping off without finding it just pays for refrigerant twice. We find the leak, repair it, and recharge by weight with the amount logged. No venting, no guessing.
Should I repair or replace my AC?
On equipment with years left in it, a documented repair is usually the right call. When replacement genuinely makes more sense, a Manual J load calculation tells us what the house actually needs — and you decide on the data, not a sales pitch.
